The Orange Door works in partnership with multiple providers to ensure that the perpetrators of violence are kept in view and that individuals and families only need to tell their story once to receive quick access to integrated safety and wellbeing support. You will work in a multi-disciplinary team with peers from FVREE and other agencies to provide an integrated service including initial screening and risk assessment, short -term assistance and financial support and connect victim survivors to a range of other services. You'll be able to draw on a range of supports including your FVREE team leader to develop your specialist family violence practice.
ABOUT YOU
You might be:
- A person with lived experience of family violence wanting to help others in similar situations;
- Hold a qualification or relevant experience in line with the minimum mandatory qualification requirements for specialist family violence practitioners*;
- A person with knowledge, experience and skills in: intake, family violence risk assessment and safety planning, case planning and referrals, and client advocacy;
- An experienced family violence practitioner wanting to join a progressive specialist service;
- Working in social services like mental health, homelessness or AOD and looking for a fresh opportunity
You will be deeply aligned with our values and understand that gender inequality is one of the main drivers of family violence. You'll be motivated by advocating and upholding the rights of women and children to be safe and free.
Following recommendations by the Royal Commission it has become a requirement for Family Violence Practitioners to have, or work towards, minimum qualifications like a social work degree, or Graduate Certificate in Family Violence.
