**Position Overview**:
We are currently seeking an experienced Disability Support Worker to join our dedicated team in Wollongong and Illawarra, specifically within our Supported Independent Living facilities. This role requires a minimum availability of three (3) days per week. As a valued member of our team, you will play a vital role in assisting our individuals with their daily living skills, facilitating social and recreational activities, implementing effective practices for promoting healthier lifestyles and empowering participants to reach their goals.

**Key Responsibilities**:
In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

- Providing personal care, including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Administering and managing medications for residents as prescribed.
- Ensuring a safe and supportive environment for residents and addressing any safety concerns promptly.
- Offering emotional support and fostering positive relationships with residents.
- Assisting with life skills training and promoting community integration for residents.
- Utilising advanced manual handling techniques to facilitate smooth and safe transitions for clients, including transfers from beds to chairs, wheelchairs, and/or other equipment. This will involve employing ergonomic principles and specialised equipment as needed.
- Utilising crisis intervention techniques and de-escalation strategies to effectively manage complex behaviours and redirect any concerning behaviours.
- Collaborating with clients to implement strategies aimed at reducing challenging behaviours.

- Previous experience in a similar support worker role within the disability sector, with a strong understanding of disability-related challenges and needs.
- Proficiency in providing personal care assistance and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Ability to teach and develop practical life skills that empower clients in their daily lives.
- Proven expertise in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviours effectively.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to foster positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- A genuine passion for supporting individuals with disabilities, promoting their independence, and helping them achieve their goals.
