Associates work as part of small deal teams responsible for identifying opportunities, conducting due diligence, structuring, executing, and monitoring investments, and are involved in a wide variety of exciting transactions across the capital structure in a variety of industries.ResponsibilitiesCoverage and Origination: Support investment ideas across the product suite of Credit via early engagement with relevant parties (e.g., financial sponsors / company management teams)Due Diligence and Execution: Engage in all aspects of due diligence (financial, legal, commercial, technical, ESG) and business analysis to develop and refine investment theses; Participate in structuring, negotiating and documenting investmentsCommunicate and defend investment theses to internal stakeholders and committees, including the Private Credit Investment CommitteeInvestment Monitoring & Exits: Actively monitor existing investments in the portfolio including serving as observer on company boards and having a regular dialogue with management teams and shareholdersBuild relationships with founders, sponsors, management teams and internal GS stakeholdersQualifications3-6 years of experience in investment banking, private equity or leverage finance and private credit rolesStrong academic record with Bachelor's degree, Master's degree or equivalent in Finance, Economics, Management, Business Studies, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline from a distinguished academic institutionStrong quantitative, financial modeling, analytical and problem-solving skillsPassion for investing and analyzing businesses and industriesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsFlexible and creative mindset; ability to analyze a variety of industries and businessesAbility to self-direct, analyze and evaluate and form independent judgmentsAbility to interact and build relationships with a wide variety of people
