
1St Year Composite Fabrication Apprentice

As a Fabrication Apprentice in the field of composites, your primary responsibility will be to assist in the manufacturing and production of composite materials and components. You will work under the guidance and supervision of experienced composites technicians and engineers to learn and develop the necessary skills in composite fabrication.
- Material Preparation: Assist in the preparation of composite materials, including cutting, shaping, and organising various components according to specifications.
- Mold Preparation: Support the preparation and maintenance of molds, ensuring they are clean, in good condition, and ready for production.
- Curing and Heat Treatment: Assist in the curing process, which may involve operating curing ovens, autoclaves, or other equipment to ensure the proper temperature, pressure, and curing time.
- Trimming and Finishing: Aid in the trimming and finishing of composite parts, using hand tools and machinery to remove excess material and achieve the desired final shape and dimensions.
- Quality Control: Assist in the inspection and quality control processes to ensure that fabricated components meet required specifications and industry standards.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of materials used, production activities, and any issues or deviations encountered during the fabrication process. Report any concerns or problems to senior technicians or supervisors.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines in the fabrication workshop, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others. Follow relevant regulations and standards applicable to composite fabrication.
- Continuous Learning: Actively participate in an Apprenticeship to improve your knowledge and skills in composite fabrication techniques, processes, and materials.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Basic understanding of math, measurements, and technical drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Good manual dexterity and physical coordination for working with hand tools and machinery.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with others.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues in a fast-paced production setting.
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills in composite fabrication.
- Prior experience or knowledge of composites is beneficial but not required.
