Working across a variety of industry sectors, our Building Services engineers provide world leading expertise; producing innovative and award-winning sustainable engineering solutions throughout the lifecycle of any building project. As a graduate in the team, you could play a key part in our next big project.
In this Graduate Mechanical Engineer role based in our Melbourne office, you'll join a team who specialise in the design of some of the most exciting construction projects in Australia and worldwide. You'll provide specialist consultancy input on projects across a wide range of sectors including education, healthcare, workplace, retail and critical systems (data centres). Under the guidance of our team of experienced engineers, we'll equip you to undertake detailed mechanical building services engineering design and analysis, translate clients' needs into designs for buildings, facilities and services (ventilation, cooling and air conditioning, heating systems and more) with sustainability at the forefront of the design. You'll have the opportunity over time to assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy as your professional skills develop, and with accredited professional development programmes from CIBSE and IMechE you'll be fully supported towards achieving chartership. The targeted start date will be January 2026.
The Role You'll Play
In this Graduate Mechanical Engineer role based in Melbourne, you'll join a team that designs some of the most exciting construction projects in Australia and worldwide. You'll work closely with colleagues across our multi-disciplinary practice, providing specialist consultancy input on projects across sectors including education, healthcare, workplace, retail and data centres. You'll undertake detailed mechanical building services engineering design and analysis, define and translate clients' needs into designs for buildings, facilities and services (ventilation, cooling and air conditioning, heating systems and more) with sustainability at the forefront. Over time you'll assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy as your professional skills develop, supported by accredited development programmes from CIBSE and IMechE toward chartership.
The Skills You'll Bring
Required/Preferred qualifications:
Accredited with, or on course to achieve a MEng degree level (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering. Ideally have relevant work experience or placements. You should have an appreciation for core elements of mechanical building services engineering and an interest in creative and intuitive design. Digital engineering is a focus at Cundall, so ideally you'll have some understanding of Parametric Modelling Techniques (Grasshopper or Dynamo), or at least one modern programming language (e.g. Python, C#, VB). An understanding of Engineering Optimisation Techniques, structured programming and basic knowledge of machine learning would be desirable.
You are organised, methodical and capable of managing tasks to meet deadlines, with an appreciation of commercial factors affecting design. Collaborative by nature, you'll communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders, use initiative to overcome challenges, and maintain a positive, can-do attitude.
