**The Opportunity**

Melton City Libraries is expanding its frontline team and is investing in additional front of house and technical staffing across our branches. This newly created position is a mirror role to an existing position based at our Caroline Springs branch and will benefit from the expertise and support of an experienced peer whilst bringing a fresh vision and perspective to the service.

In this role, you will;
- Develop, deliver, and evaluate an innovative range of adult literacy, reader development, learning and social connection programs, and initiatives across the library service to improve literacy outcomes in the community and inspire a love of learning and literature.
- Deliver high quality customer service at Council's library facilities that is responsive to community needs.

This position is a permanent, fulltime position based on a 35-hour week, including a regular evening and 1:4 Saturday mornings. This position will be predominately based at the Melton Library and Learning Hub, though all Library staff work across our branches.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Develop, plan, deliver and evaluate adult literacy, reader development, learning and social connection programs across the library service to ensure a comprehensive calendar of activities and events.
- Utilise community development principles and an inclusive intercultural approach to develop program plans and proposals that align with established library priorities, and regularly facilitate and deliver programs.
- Develop effective relationships and strategic partnerships with adult learning providers, community groups, Council staff and volunteers to improve adult literacy outcomes and sustainable program delivery.
- Provide input into the development and maintenance of library collections through specialist knowledge of education and community needs.

**About you**

**_ To be successful in this role you will have the following:_**
- Tertiary qualification in either professional membership (librarian) of the Australian Library and Information Association or other relevant qualification along with experience in public libraries.
- Experience working directly with community to inform, develop and support their learning, literacy, social and reading needs.
- Experience in program development and delivery for adults.
- Certificate in Training and Assessment would be an advantage.
- Current valid Victorian driver's licence.
- Current valid Working with Children's check.
