Overview
Patient Care Assistant - Day Surgery at St John of God Health Care, Subiaco Hospital. This casual position supports a 46-bed Day Surgery Ward providing preoperative and postoperative care across multiple surgical specialties including Cardiology, Orthopaedic, ENT, Vascular, Gynaecology, Plastics and General Surgery.
You will join an integral multi-disciplinary team delivering high standards of patient care, patient transport and support to the nursing care team as directed.
Responsibilities
All direct patient care is carried out under the direction and supervision of Registered Nurse/Midwife/Enrolled Nurse.
Transfer patients using appropriate patient transport to all areas of the Hospital.
Perform duties in accordance with the duty list.
Manual handling of patients under supervision of Registered Nurse/Midwife/Enrolled Nurses.
Assist Nursing Caregivers with patient care.
Ensure patient privacy is maintained.
Understand role in an emergency and follow direction of the coordinator.
Maintain a safe environment for patients contributing to comfort.
Contribute to an efficient and timely patient admission, transfer and discharge process.
Assist Registered Nurse/Midwife/Enrolled Nurses in the care of deceased patients.
Qualifications & Experience
We are seeking a motivated individual who holds a Certificate III in Health Service Assistance (Client/Patient Services) or a similar qualification, or is currently studying in a health-related field at a tertiary level. The ideal candidate will have well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently.

Hourly rate: $39.25 to $41.11 (inclusive of casual loading) plus 12% superannuation
