**Position Information**:
Rainbow Street Public School, enrolment 475 students, including 51 % from a language background other than English, comprises 19 regular classes and four support classes catering for students with moderate intellectual disabilities, mild intellectual disabilities and autism. The physical learning environment underwent a major capital works program to serve the growing needs of the community, purpose built to provide future focused teaching and learning spaces. The learning environment is designed to support modern and flexible learning models with collaborative learning spaces, spacious grounds and a blend of indoor and outdoor learning environments, providing students with a multitude of learning opportunities. The staff are a mix of experienced and early career teachers. Parents value the diverse culture of the school and are active and committed members of the school community working closely with staff for the maximum benefit of students. There is an emphasis on data driven and visible learning practices, a broad curriculum and the authentic use of information and communication technologies.
**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach Special Education and/or extensive experience and a passion for teaching students with autism spectrum disorder, mild to moderate intellectual disability and students with complex behavioural needs.
Proven ability to effectively manage the dual roles of Assistant Principal and exemplary classroom teacher, with an emphasis on reflective practice, organisational skills and implementation of the school's strategic directions.
Extensive experience leading collaborative development and implementation of high-quality differentiated curriculum and Personalised Learning and Support Plans to promote continuous growth for the social, emotional, behavioural and academic learning needs of students.
Demonstrated high-level interpersonal skills with the ability to work in collaborative teams, foster positive relationships, and support and mentor staff in developing and implementing effective practices to drive continuous improvement.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
