The Grants Operations Assistant Director will lead and support the delivery of a number of DVA's grants program, adhering to strict timeframes, Department of Finance rules, requirements and guidelines. The section is responsible for working in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including the Community Grants Hub (Hub), the government provider of grants administrative services administered by the Department of Social Services. The team prepares grant guidelines, undertakes assessments, provides recommendations and responds to a high volume of correspondence and briefs regarding DVA's Grants.
We are looking for a motivated, self-starter with strong leadership, management and communication skills. The successful applicant will require excellent relationship management and communication skills and enjoy working in a dynamic environment. The occupant should have knowledge of whole of Government Grant rules, including the Commonwealth Grant Rules and Requirements and related legislation and policy, or the ability to learn this quickly.
Experience in the delivery of grants management or policy will be highly regarded.
The key duties of the position include:

- Have knowledge of whole of Government Grant rules, including the Commonwealth Grant Rules and Requirements and related legislation and policy;
- Quality assurance and reporting skills or the ability to acquire;
- Provide strong leadership, excellent communication and strategic organisational direction in the Ministerial, Engagement and Communications Division;
- Supervise, coach and mentor employees, manage performance, conflict and build capability within the team;
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other areas of the Department, government agencies and external stakeholders;
- Provide oral and written briefings, papers and submissions to the Minister and the senior executive on matters relevant to the work of the division.

Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for an initial specified term of up to 12 months.
