Program Overview

The Direct Services Team provides "inLanguage inCulture" case management services to migrant and refugee victim survivors of family violence. This covers a range of modalities and settings, including intake, phone and face to face support, court and outreach services, community education and recovery groups.

Our Case Managers have specialised understanding of the issues related to the intersection of family violence, culture, temporary migration, family law and the legal system. They provide a bridge between countries and cultures as they are able to assist clients build their understanding and help them navigate Australian systems and laws compared to the systems from their own country.

Our community legal centre provides legal advice, legal casework and immigration support to women receiving our case management support.

Position Summary

We are seeking suitably qualified and experienced Family Violence Case Managers to join us and help make a difference in the lives of women and children experiencing family violence. Fluency in a language other than English is essential. Preferred languages include but are not limited to Vietnamese, Hindi, Punjabi, Farsi, Dari, Thai, Sinhalese, Tamil, Khmer

Working in our inLanguage, inCulture model the successful applicant will be undertaking assessment and screening of family violence and ongoing risk management. Holistic and client-centred case planning and case management processes, which includes providing support, advocacy and coordinating specialised support services for women and children. The Case Manager will also be required to work collaboratively with other services to ensure the safety and support of women and children who are affected by family violence.

Position Accountabilities
- Continuously assess and monitor the safety of women and their children throughout the referral period with inTouch;
- Assist women to make informed choices for themselves and their children and to access appropriate and relevant services to help them achieve their stated goals;
- Provide a range of support services and intervention, both individual and group based, to women and their children who have experienced family violence;
- Deliver specialist advice / knowledge to external service providers in relation to the CALD and family violence sector;
- Articulate and demonstrate engagement with clients with complex needs;
- Effectively work with relevant service providers to support an integrated approach to referral pathways, protocols and joint initiatives in the family violence sector;
- Deliver education on the topics of CALD and family violence to community groups;
- Collate and enter data into inTouch software (SHIP) to support clear and concise reporting;
- Proactively coordinate engagement with clients at outreach venues to provide efficient and effective support;
- Provide confidential, professional, timely and relevant services to women.

As part of our screening process in support of the safeguarding of our clients, applicants will be required to complete a satisfactory National Police Check, a Statutory Declaration where necessary, sign our Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement and complete a Working with Children Check.
