About the role:
As a senior Android engineer, you will join a team that owns mobile app development, focusing on signup flows and payments.
Our teams are multi-disciplinary, including iOS, Android, and Backend engineers, working together to craft software for native mobile products.
Our distributed teams work collaboratively across Australia and New Zealand, driving delivery, and improving work through research, experiments, health monitoring, and prototyping.
We're not just looking for someone who codes well; we want someone who can drive results forward, help others grow, and make architectural decisions.
You'll bring expertise in making technical decisions, offering guidance, mentoring, and staying up-to-date with mobile development technologies.
What you'll bring to the role:
- Previous experience as a senior engineer is preferred.
- Appetite to understand and learn other stacks (iOS, Backend - preferably C#) is beneficial.
- Experience in coaching and mentoring engineers.
- Previous exposure to working in a similar product-based environment with collaboration being key.
A technical fluency in Android is essential, especially in:
Kotlin & Coroutines
Testing knowledge – including unit testing, etc.
Dependency Injection – heavily relies on DI (Hilt), so this is also a must-have skill.
Jetpack Compose – expected to use, as almost all new screens are built with Compose.
Knowledge and experience working with MVVM and clean architecture patterns.
What you'll do:
Continually deliver results through writing code and code reviews.
Lead and/or participate in technical and architectural discussions.
Work in a cross-functional environment, collaborating with Product, Design & Data peers to design, prototype, and implement product features.
Identify opportunities in current technology and architecture to recommend solutions, including tech improvements for stability, monitoring, and fault tolerance.
Provide input when engineers need help, offering technical guidance and mentoring to help them grow and be the best version of themselves.
Keep an ear to the ground in an effort to stay up-to-date with mobile development technologies; identify and promote opportunities to make use of these technologies within the mobile team.
