**Your role**
The Casework Co-ordinator is part of a multi-disciplinary team and is responsible for supporting Aboriginal participants in the NSW Drug Court to successfully complete their program. You will get the opportunity to work in a therapeutic court setting, supporting Aboriginal participants. You will assist the court develop and maintain collaborative working partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander specific services, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, and other government and non-government service providers.
**What you'll do**
The Casework Coordinator works with members of the inter-agency Drug Court Team in the case management of Aboriginal participants, facilitating referrals, co-ordinating service provision and advocating on behalf of participants. You'll need to work collaboratively with case managers and services involved with Aboriginal participants, to ensure their meeting their obligations to Aboriginal participants and provide advocacy when needed.
You'll be required to participate in pre-court meetings to provide advice to the Drug Court and the interagency Drug Court team on culturally relevant interventions for Aboriginal participants, recommending strategies to assist participants' rehabilitation and program completion.
You'll collaborate with Drug Court Team to share information, co-ordinate service provision in line with Drug Court directions, referring and/or facilitating entry into available education, treatment, cultural support or rehabilitative programs or social welfare support services.
You will be required to physically attend court sittings (as directed) and be available on urine drug testing days to assist and support Aboriginal participants.
You'll work in a hybrid environment, where you will be based in Toronto Local Court, as well as moving within the community as required providing support to clients across the Drug Court footprint.
**What we're looking for**
We're ideally seeking applicants with experience in supporting Aboriginal clients and their families with practical supports to address any barriers to their participation in, and completion of, the Drug Court program.
This role is for you if you want to be a part of a team that's building mutually beneficial partnerships with legal stakeholders, the government and the non-government sectors, and the Aboriginal community, to deliver better justice outcomes for Aboriginal people, families, and communities.
We're looking for people who have:
- Experience working with Aboriginal offenders and their families
- Experience in maintaining and establishing partnerships with stakeholders, caseworkers, and Legal representatives
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment with competing priorities in a court setting
- Ability to work autonomously, write reports and collect data.
