**The Position**
We are currently looking for an experienced, full-time Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team, maintaining our large fleet of over 170 vehicles and plant equipment. This role is Monday to Friday, possible occasional weekend work, and rotating on-call night work roster. Main location for the role is Kilsyth South, but may be required to travel to job sites using shared mechanics mobile fleet service vehicle.
- Diagnose any problems with vehicles or machinery by using scanning tools and computers
- Inspect and perform routine check-ups of key components including engine, steering, transmission, suspension, and brakes
- Guide and mentor apprentice mechanics, ensuring development and transfer of knowledge/skills
- Operate hydraulic jacks and hoists safely to inspect vehicles
- Ensure defective plant and vehicles are tagged and not operated until repairs are conducted
- Assist in training of safe plant and vehicle practices
- Repair damaged parts, units, malfunctions or deficiencies with vehicle or machinery
- Test drive vehicles to see if the fault has been rectified
- Communicate with vehicle/machine operators
- Order parts and maintain the inventory levels
**Requirements**:
- Diesel mechanic trade qualification
- Minimum 3+ years experience as a heavy diesel mechanic
- Red/white construction induction card
- Valid Victorian HR license
- Plant tickets highly regarded (Excavator, Bobat, Front End Loader)
- Ability to work autonomously, and as part of a team
- Welding experience is highly regarded
- Experience working with civil construction machinery is highly regarded
