About the role
As a Cleaning Area Manager for Sydney Trains Stations, you will be responsible for the day-to-day cleaning operations. Your primary focus will be to lead a high-performing team, ensuring adherence to all cleaning standards and procedures while maintaining a strong, collaborative relationship with the client. You are a professional with a proven background in managing cleaning teams across multiple sites, preferably within a transport, government, or similar high-traffic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management:
Manage the service delivery and performance of daily cleaning operations at Central Station.
Quality Assurance:
Conduct regular cleaning checks and inspections to ensure standards are met.
Safety & Compliance:
Enforce compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
Roster & Budget Management:
Prepare and manage rosters to meet budgetary requirements and modern award standards.
Stock Control:
Manage stock levels and ensure the team has the necessary supplies.
Team Leadership:
Lead, train, and support your team, empowering them to deliver their best work.
Client Relations:
Build and maintain effective and lasting client relationships with the Sydney Trains team.
Performance & Safety:
Implement initiatives to drive a high-performing and safe work environment.
Reporting:
Provide regular reporting and operational analytics.
About You
Challenger Services Group is looking for a full-time Area Manager to oversee cleaning operations for Sydney Trains Stations, based at Central Station.
Experience:
Previous experience managing commercial cleaning teams is essential.
Mandatory certifications and checks:
Valid Driver's Licence
Current Police Check
Valid First Aid Certificate
Valid RIW Card (Rail Industry Worker)
Working with Children Check (WWCC)
Leadership Skills:
Proven success in leading and developing a high-performing team.
Knowledge:
Strong understanding of commercial cleaning equipment, chemical handling, and WHS requirements. Working knowledge of the Cleaning Services Award is highly regarded.
Professionalism:
Very high attention to detail, strong time management, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. You must also have a good presentation and fluency in English.
