Clinical Assistant Pathology

In addition to this responsibility is the receiving, preparing and sending of specimens for analysis, computer registration of request forms, processing of stores, assisting with clinical pathology duties, cleaning and other duties as directed.
The multiskilled clinical assistant role reports to the Senior Molecular Scientist, Infectious Diseases Laboratory and participates in a shift roster, 7 days per week, including after-hours work. A 24hr continuous shift roster may be required during periods of higher testing demand.
Key competencies (role-specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Operational knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge concerning specimen processing and preparation within a specimen reception and Microbiology Pathology Queensland laboratory setting.
- Operational knowledge of relevant service quality procedures and medical and scientific terminology.
- Literacy, numeracy and word processing skills, computer data input and retrieval experience and use of a laboratory information system.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, including conflict resolution, negotiation, and the ability to positively contribute to a flexible molecular laboratory team culture under the supervision of more senior practitioners.
- Work in a team and independently and sometimes without direct supervision.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- While not mandatory, a relevant qualification (Cert III Laboratory Assistance) would be well regarded.
