Long Term ContractFederal Government (NV1 or NV2 clearance)Canberra Location (Remote work can be considered)Job DetailsThe federal government department is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join their team.Role & ResponsibilitiesMaintain and develop data systems to support the department's 'data informed diplomacy' objectives, including:Scoping and development of relevant data sources, open source and officialScoping and building data models, working with a PowerBI developerMaintaining and extending scripts/tools for ETL, data wrangling, data cleaning, and robust data syncing, utilising Python and other toolsData analysis and visualisationMaintain and develop AI tools to support policy analysis, including:Maintaining and extending a project for summarisation and analysis of open-source (news) and official material (Python, OpenAI, Azure)Expanding or forking the tool for other use cases, subject to stakeholder engagementFulfilling documentation requirementsProviding other data services relevant to the objectives of the Southeast Asia Data Analytics Section as requiredTechnical SkillsMicrosoft Excel, R, Python, SQL, AI APIs/libraries (e.g., Azure, OpenAI).
