About the opportunityThe Yard Hand reports to the Factory Manager and is part of the manufacturing team.
The key focus of this role is to ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of the yard by organising, handling and transporting various steel products as a team and ensuring safety.
More specifically, you will:Ensure delivery of quality goods, both internally and externallyOperate various forklifts and safely load, unload and move steel products, upholding safety guidelines and handling materials with careSupply customer orders in fullEnsure work is carried out efficiently, on time to specification and to the correct locationEfficient movement and layout of product within the work environmentPicking and preparing loads and completing required documentationAssist with stock control and stock take processAssist in assessing load sizes and numbers for transportAssist with maintaining quality control and identify product defectsOther reasonable duties as directedAbout youYou will share a passion for our purpose and be aligned to our core values; better together, be accountable, people matter and think bigger.
In addition, you will:Excellent work ethic, honest, reliable and punctualPhysically fit to perform manual handling tasks and withstand extended period of standing and walkingStrong communication and organisation skillsDemonstrated experience in loading and despatching of trucksAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritise tasksAbility to work independently, as well as contribute as a team memberCurrent driver's license and reliable transportForklift licence for 5 tonne capacityAvailable to work Monday – Friday and occasional Saturdays, 38 hours a weekInterested?
