About the Team
Pacifikai is a community health program for Pacific Islander children, young people, and families in Queensland. Our program is part of a statewide plan aimed to promote health and prevent chronic diseases in Pacific Islander families. We support the health and wellbeing of Pacific Islander children, young people, and families by delivering culturally tailored health education workshops, developing culturally appropriate resources, and supporting community needs.
About the Role
Effectively support the team of Multicultural Health Workers to establish and maintain a positive relationship between Pacifikai and the Pacific Islander community, as well as culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
Support the operational management of Pacifikai health promotion services, providing support to the team of Multicultural Health Workers including backfill, cultural support, and administrative tasks.
Actively seek opportunities to engage with the Pacific Islander community to promote health and raise awareness of Pacifikai services; effectively engaging children, young people, and families of the community.
Facilitate regular development and quality improvement activities to maintain and ensure service delivery is culturally responsive and safe for the Pacific Islander community, reporting back to the Senior Multicultural Coordinator and preparing documents to review operation of health promotion services and activities.
Ensure the team of Multicultural Health Workers are up to date with mandatory training requirements and other workforce management processes.
Coordinate team meetings as required, taking a positive role in planning and participating in work activities and participating in a cooperative working environment.
Work closely with the Senior Multicultural Coordinator and the Senior Multicultural Nutritionist to highlight the need for professional development activities, provide cross-referrals, and other department activities.
