OverviewSenior Contracts Administrator - Suburban Connect role at CPB Contractors.
Suburban Connect is a consortium delivering the Tunnels South package on Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East, on behalf of Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA).
SRL East from Cheltenham to Box Hill is under construction, with tunnelling to start in 2026 and trains to be running by 2035.
Suburban Connect is constructing the 16 kms of tunnels between Cheltenham and Glen Waverley using 4 tunnel boring machines and a range of excavation methods.
The works also include 55 cross passages, 2 tunnel portal structures, 2 station box excavations and associated supports.We have a broad range of roles available to build our diverse and inclusive workforce, including construction and engineering, planning and environmental management, corporate support, administration, communications and many others.About The OpportunityPlan and manage the end-to-end commercial management of large subcontract and self-performed works, both directly and indirectly.
Work effectively with internal and external stakeholders and direct reports to deliver project commercial outcomes.The Key Responsibilities Of The Role IncludeParticipate in scope of works planning, ensuring that scope gaps are minimised, cost efficiencies are maximised and subcontractor capabilities are consideredPrepare procurement strategies, including breakdown into individual works packages, identification of potential subcontractors, procurement methods and timingAssist with Head Contract administration where requiredMaintain contract and good working relationships with a broad range of subcontractors and maintain a good awareness of market conditions and movementsEffectively manage subcontracts through all phases including scope preparation, procurement, cost forecasting, subcontractor management, claims/variations processing, completion and close outEnsure compliance with Building Code at all times and report any potential non-compliancesOperate and maintain commercial and contract systems including Project Costs Reporting (PCR), Asset Registers, Commercial Pack database and Contract SumAssist dispute resolution processes as requiredEnsure cost forecasting for allocated subcontracts and cost codes are accurately maintained and cost issues are escalated when identifiedAssess commercial and contractual risks, identify and implement appropriate controls and escalate actual or potential issues to the Commercial Manager and/or Project ManagerPrepare reporting on commercial performance periodically and on an ad hoc basis as requiredProvide management and leadership to other commercial roles, including direct reportsProvide commercial support for self-perform worksPerform all duties in accordance with Suburban Connect policies, processes, systems and proceduresThe Ideal Candidate Will PossessDegree in Construction Management, Engineering, Economics, Quantity Surveying, Law, Commerce or equivalentPost Graduate qualifications e.g. graduate certificate, graduate diploma in Commerce, Accounting, Business, Construction, Property, Quantity Surveying, Law or other associated disciplinesMinimum 5 years' experience as a Contracts Administrator or Quantity Surveyor in the construction and engineering industryExperience in all stages of subcontract management, including scope preparation, procurement, cost forecasting, subcontractor management, claims/variations management, completion and close outSite-based engineering or construction experienceExperience with a variety of project values and complexity, including large, technically complex work packagesStrong commercial acumen and awareness in areas of cost management and contract lawKnowledge and understanding of industry market conditions and movementsDemonstrated ability to manage commercial negotiationsAwareness and compliance with document control and records management proceduresAs a company that values diversity as a source of talent, we work to foster an inclusive environment that promotes respect, belonging and engagement so that all people can participate on an equal opportunity basis.
