About Us
Lutheran Homes Group (LHG) is a not-for-profit provider of residential, home care, and retirement services for senior Australians. With nearly 1,000 employees and volunteers, we deliver personalised care to over 1,600 South Australians, empowering them to live with dignity and choice. Committed to innovation and staff development, we strive to maintain high-quality care while growing and upholding our strong values. Join us in making a positive difference in the lives of older Australians.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Spiritual Care Coordinator to join our team. This newly created role will ensure the delivery and coordination of holistic spiritual support to individuals and their families while ensuring the organisation upholds its Lutheran ethos and values. You will collaborate with our care teams to integrate spiritual care into client care plans, promoting comfort, peace, and respect for diverse beliefs. Your key duties will include:
- ** Shape Person-Centred Care**: Identify and respond to each individual's spiritual needs—personally or through your team—ensuring these are meaningfully reflected in care planning and daily support.
- ** Be a Source of Strength**: Provide or guide the delivery of compassionate spiritual care to residents, families, and staff during life's most challenging moments—illness, grief, or times of transition.
- ** Support in Crisis**: Personally offer, or equip others to offer, a steady, reassuring presence and spiritual support during times of crisis, end-of-life, or emotional distress.
- ** Champion Inclusion**: Foster an inclusive environment that honours all spiritual and cultural beliefs, whether by your own actions or by empowering your team to do the same.
- ** Build Capability**: Lead education and mentoring initiatives that build confidence and competence across the workforce in providing spiritual care.
- ** Strengthen Community Connection**: Personally nurture, or oversee the development of, partnerships with local pastors, chaplains, and spiritual leaders to enrich the support we provide.
About You
We're looking for a compassionate and inspiring leader who brings both strong communication skills and a deep understanding of spiritual care within a healthcare or organisational setting. You'll ideally have hands-on experience delivering spiritual care as part of a multidisciplinary team, and a genuine passion for supporting people through life's most meaningful moments—whether through direct care or by guiding and coaching others to do the same. A degree in divinity, theology, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory, and additional certifications in spiritual care or counselling are highly desirable. The ability to foster an environment of inclusivity and cultural respect is also important.
Why Lutheran Homes Group?
- Work with passion and purpose to drive positive outcomes in an inspiring and stimulating work environment
- Utilise your skills and experience to make a real difference in the lives of senior Australians
- Unleash your potential with opportunities to learn and grow within the organisation
- Collaborate with a team of like-minded professionals in a supportive and empowering environment
**Applications close 10:00 pm Wednesday 28 May 2025.
