**The Position**
Position Title: Community Development Worker - Families where a Parent has a Mental Illness (FaPMI)
Classification: YA39 - YA48
Salary per hour (exc. super): $32.05 - $42.10, depending on experience
Hours per fortnight: 80 (including a monthly ADO)
Employment Status: Full time ongoing
Other requirements: COVID-19 Vaccination
**Role Description**
The Families where a Parent has a Mental Illness (FaPMI) Coordinators work with local network partners to influence and promote family-inclusive practice to achieve positive outcomes for all family members. The FaPMI Community Development Worker (CDW) will work closely to assist with targeted program activities with a strong focus on supporting children and young people, including young carers. The CDW will utilise established service connections, build others and work directly with young carers to provide linkages to assist them to develop strong support networks.
**To Be Successful In This Role You Will Have**
- Experience and demonstrated ability to engage children young people and their families
- Working knowledge of mental health and other community services
- An appreciation of the lived experience of all family members when mental health challenges are present
- Knowledge of the relevant legislation and service frameworks, including Mental Health Act, recovery oriented practice, information sharing and family violence
- Cert IV in Community Development or equivalent
- Excellent networking skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and plan
- Current National Police and Working with Children History Check
**The Team**
The Mental Health Service provides psychiatric care and treatment across a large catchment area in Victoria stretching from Swan Hill in the north of the state to Gisborne in the south. Family sensitive practice is central to our models of mental health care and best practice ensures the identification, inclusion and support of families, carers and children. The position will be based within the Mental Health Professional Development Unit.
