Business Intelligence Officer

Seeking the expertise of a suitably experienced Business Intelligence Officer to fulfil a contract for up to 6 months on a full time basis based at a large Council SW Sydney location.

Position is responsible for supporting Council's direction by delivering modernised reports to facilitate the monitoring of key activities, services, strategies and plans relevant to Council and the community. The outputs will add value and support evidence-based decision making by delivering Council's disparate, complex, and large data sets in an effective fashion.

Key Performance Indicators:

- Support the achievement of Corporate Health Indicators and or performance measures related to the Project Management Office.
- Demonstrated progressive improvement in the development of organisational reporting and data visualisations.
- Demonstrated achievement in the development of performance measures and targets to support evidence-based decision making.

Background information / Compatibility requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or Information Technology and relevant specific experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated project management experience to plan projects and workload, achieve goals and meet deadlines with focus on effective change management and successful transition to business-as-usual operations.
- Experience with visualisation and self-service data prep, complex enterprise class data and reporting and analytics platforms such as Microsoft SQL, Azure stack, Power Bl or similar.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to extract and evaluate complex data sets using multiple sources, proactively examine how to leverage trends and draw logical conclusions to generate insights that support informed decision making by the business.
- Demonstrated experience in verbal, written and presentation communication skills, with an ability and willingness to articulate key findings and messages to all levels of an organisation including Executive and/or Council.
