A Perth based womenswear wholesaler serving the domestic and international fashion industry is seeking a qualified and experienced fashion designer to develop a new luxury Australian made range for export.

Qualifications & experience

BA In Fashion Design or equivalent qualification required. Honours degree preferred.

Minimum of 3 + years design experience.

Complete proficiency in both Adobe Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop.

An ability to forecast trends.

Excellent design and conceptual skills.

International experience in fashion design is required and inspired by global fashion trends.

A creative contribution between all product/ design categories.

A strong design, technical and production background.

An ability to source and work with new fabrics and trims.

Strong drafting skills, creating blocks and tracing patterns for factories,

Industrial and domestic sewing machine and overlocker skills.

Industrial press and iron machine skills.

An ability to work with multiple products.

Trend forecasting and market research experience.

Tasks and responsibilities

Work closely with our manufacturers to achieve the path from design, sampling, corrections, and bulk production.

Formulating design concepts.

Creating tech packs for clear garment production. This includes: fabrication, finishes, measurements, style code, delivery date required.

Conducting market research to identify new trends, fabrics and techniques, and seeking design inspiration.

A strong understanding of the customer and her needs.

Actively contributing in trend and competitor analysis, making recommendations for changes or developments

Supervising the manufacture process.

Ability to execute multiple deadlines.

Negotiating design solutions with management and sales.

Recommend materials, production methods and finishes for manufacture.

Creating design templates for tech packs and lookbooks.

Attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines is essential.

Excellent creative drive.

Demonstrable problem solving ability.

Present design ideas, story, mood and colour boards to sales and management.

**Salary**: $70,000.00 per year
