Kitchen Steward – Sofitel Brisbane Central
We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Kitchen Steward to join our team in Sofitel Brisbane Central.
As a Kitchen Steward, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene and organisation of our kitchen facilities, ensuring a smooth and safe operation for our culinary team.
Responsibilities
Clean and sanitise all kitchen areas, including floors, walls and work surfaces, adhering to established cleaning schedules and food safety standards
Wash, sanitise and properly store all kitchen equipment, utensils, dishes and glassware using industrial dishwashers or hand-washing techniques as appropriate
Assist in the maintenance of food storage areas, including refrigerators, freezers and dry storage, ensuring proper organisation and cleanliness
Remove and dispose of kitchen waste regularly, keeping the kitchen and waste areas free from refuse
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, reporting any hazards or maintenance issues to the Kitchen Management
Collaborate with kitchen staff to maintain an efficient and organised work environment
Participate in regular cleaning inspections and quality control checks
Adapt to changing priorities and assist with additional kitchen duties as required
Qualifications
Minimum of 6 months experience in a similar role, preferably in a commercial kitchen or hospitality setting
Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and capable of heavy lifting, pushing and pulling
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe work environment
Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently
Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays and at night time as needed
Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills and procedures
Basic understanding of kitchen operations and equipment
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment
