Production Technician

**Description**:
STAIRLOCK is a family owned and operated business and over the past 50 years has grown to become one of Australia's largest staircase manufacturers. We make stairs well. In fact, it's all we do. We make, supply, and install a wide range of staircases and stair parts throughout Australia. Our Head Office and purpose built manufacturing plant are based in Lionsgate Business Park in South Australia, with operational support offices located in New South Wales and Victoria.
**About the Role**:
We are looking for a Production Technician to oversee our day to day stair production and machine maintenance. Reporting to the Production Manager, you'll be responsible for overseeing the daily functions of the MDF production team and ensuring seamless production schedules are maintained. This is a full-time position Monday to Friday 7:00am to 3:35pm, with additional hours as required, paid at over time rates.
Key Responsibilities
Attend and drive the daily toolbox meeting at 7:00am, discuss daily goals, production targets and allocate resources to each machine.
Ensure machines are fully utilised
Troubleshoot machine issues as quickly as possible to minimise the impact on throughput.
Drive the work schedule, recognise bottles necks and alleviate those production lines to maximise our production output.
Machine operation, maintenance, and minor repairs
Perform quality checks on finished goods prior to packing.
Conduct rework investigations with a continuous improvement mindset, to eliminate ongoing issues and constantly improve work efficiency.
Attend afternoon toolbox meetings to analyse and discuss daily output and any key requirements for the following day.
Provide training for new staff and ongoing mentoring and coaching
Monitoring and addressing performance issues, in collaboration with the Production Manager
Ensure 5S is maintained.
**Value you will bring to the role**:
Experience in a similar role, in manufacturing preferably with joinery and or timber products
In depth knowledge of and experience in SCM and CNC machine operation, maintenance and repairs (preferred).
Experience leading and motivating a team
Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles, and a demonstrated comitment to continuous improvement
Experienced forklift driver capable of driving 3T/5T forklifts
Safety conscious, leading by example
Ability to interpret shop drawings/written specifications
Good level of written and verbal communication skills
Excellent time management skills
Strong organisational skills to ensure projects run smoothly and within the desired time frames.
Unrestricted working rights in Australia
Ability to work overtime on Saturday mornings as required.
Experience in electrical and machine maintenance is desired
