**Position Title: Volunteer English Tutor**

**Location**: Hume Area (in person)

**Overview**:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to serve as a Volunteer English Tutor within our community. This role is crucial in supporting individuals within our community who seek to improve their English language skills. As a Volunteer English Tutor, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by providing guidance and support to individuals from diverse backgrounds.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Conducting English Language Classes**: Design and facilitate English language classes according to the needs and proficiency levels of learners within the community including individual and group. This may include teaching basic grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
- **Creating Engaging Lesson Plans**: Develop creative and interactive lesson plans that cater to the individual learning styles and goals of learners. Incorporate various teaching methods, resources, and activities to make learning enjoyable and effective.
- **Providing Individualized Support**: Offer one-on-one tutoring sessions to address specific challenges and provide personalized guidance to learners.
- **Cultural Sensitivity**: Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and awareness when interacting with learners from diverse cultural backgrounds. Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where learners feel valued, respected, and empowered to succeed.
- **Maintaining Records**: Keep accurate records of attendance, progress, and assessment results for each learner. Provide regular updates to the program coordinator or supervisor regarding learner progress and any challenges encountered.

**Qualifications**:

- Proficiency in the English language, both spoken and written.
- Previous experience in teaching, tutoring, or mentoring is preferred but not required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Cultural sensitivity and respect for different perspectives and experiences.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping others learn and grow.
- Flexibility and adaptability to accommodate the needs and preferences of learners.
- Commitment to upholding confidentiality and maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.

**Time Commitment**:
The time commitment for this volunteer position may vary depending on the availability of the volunteer and the needs of the learners. Volunteers are typically asked to commit to a certain number of hours per week or month, with flexibility to accommodate other responsibilities.
