About the Role
The successful applicant will be the medical lead of the multi-disciplinary management team caring for these patients and will be expected to:

- Provide specialist services at Metro South Hospital and Health Service,
- Provide outpatient consultations in the Metabolic Surgery Assessment Clinic - initially one outpatient clinic per week where patients will be assessed for their medical suitability for bariatric surgery followed by optimisation of any relevant medical condition prior to any surgical procedures being undertaken. These clinics will also include post-operative supervision of medical care for these patients.
- Participate in triaging of referrals for Complex Obesity Service and the Metabolic Surgery Assessment Clinic.
- Supervise the work flow of Complex Obesity Service and Prader Willi Clinic
- Provide inpatient care, including participating in the general endocrinology on-call roster
- Lead the weekly multi-disciplinary team meeting to discuss active patients referred for consideration of bariatric surgery.
- Work closely and collaboratively with the Bariatric Nurse Practitioner to coordinate the Bariatric surgical service across the PAH and QE2 sites
- Provide clinical supervision of the Bariatric Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse
- Provide medical assessment (as needed) for patients attending allied-health led group weight loss programs within the bariatric service
- Participate as a member and attend meetings for the steering committee for the Statewide Bariatric Surgery pathway.
