THE ROLE
The Housing Services Officer role is a client-facing position supporting the delivery of the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing's housing program.
It plays a vital role in providing client-centered services to individuals and families seeking housing assistance or residing in public housing.
Housing Services Officers are part of a network of community workers and organizations that collaborate to support vulnerable people, promoting their wellbeing.
Based in offices across the state, the role involves tasks related to tenancy and property management, as well as providing housing advice and assistance.
Housing Services Officers at Classification 2 are fully competent in their assigned housing functions and possess well-developed skills across all areas.
They may serve as a local reference point for less experienced staff and work under general supervision.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
Assess clients' needs and advise on housing options based on established policies, procedures, and standards.
Prepare routine cases following established procedures and represent the Department at Victorian Civil Administrative Tribunal (VCAT).
Apply early intervention strategies to sustain tenancies.
