National Technical Engineering Manager at Coates – Ingleburn, New South Wales, Australia. Proudly Australian owned, Coates provides end-to-end solutions spanning Equipment Hire, Engineering Solutions, Industrial Solutions and Power & HVAC. This role leads the engineering design function, shapes national strategy for engineered solutions, and reports to the General Manager – Engineering Solutions.
Responsibilities
Drive a safety-first culture across the organisation and with customer relationships.
Design and draft engineered temporary works solutions using Coates' fleet of equipment, ensuring functionality, compliance, and alignment with Australian Standards.
Provide onsite engineering services, including inspection, testing, and technical support.
Manage the delivery of engineering certifications, leveraging internal and external chartered engineers.
Develop best-practice, cost-effective designs meeting legislative and environmental requirements.
Identify opportunities to enhance and expand Coates' technical offerings in line with market trends and customer needs.
Build strong industry presence by representing Coates through professional memberships, industry networks, and trade shows.
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team with a focus on accountability, performance, and growth.
Ensure full compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
Qualifications
MIE Aust, CPEng, NER & RPEQ qualified in Civil & Structural discipline
Civil and/or Structural Engineering Degree qualification as recognised by Engineers Australia
Extensive experience delivering engineered solutions within construction, infrastructure, or industrial sectors
Strong knowledge of legislative, environmental, and compliance standards relevant to temporary works and equipment design
Demonstrated success in leading technical teams and fostering a high-performance culture
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to balance innovation, safety, and cost-efficiency
Passion for safety and continuous improvement
