**POSITION TITLE**:Verification and Validation Manager
**LOCATION**:Sydney
**BASIC FUNCTION
The Verification and Validation (V&V) Manager manages and supervises the V&V team and is responsible to the Head of Programs for the management and conduct of system level V&V services in support of both the Company's Product development and Project activities.
The V&V Manager is also the Company's Verification and Validation authority, responsible for the maintenance and ongoing improvement of the Company's V&V programs and processes.
The V&V Manager has an obligation to respective Project Managers for ensuring Project specific V&V outcomes are met.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work closely with Product Engineers and Project Engineers to plan System and Subsystem V&V strategies for existing products and items under development.
- Develop systems to anticipate and deliver into future V&V programs, including the development of test automation capabilities for new and existing products.
- Author, maintain and review project and product related V&V related documentation.
- Conduct Informal and Formal Testing of Sonartech Atlas Systems and Subsystems.
- Manage and coordinate formal test activities being run for external customers including the generation of Review Packages, Reports and Minutes.
- Support the conduct of Functional and Physical Configuration Audit activities.
- Provide V&V support for the preparation and review of proposals, offers and bids.
- Provide guidance and support the integration of V&V functions across the organisation including continuous improvements of V&V processes and programs.
- Assign, schedule and manage V&V resources to projects according to changing priorities and staff development plans, to achieve project-specific V&V outcomes.
- Provide regular V&V resource forecasts based on project and product development needs.
- Ensure the V&V team is aligned to company V&V outcomes and objectives.
- Set and articulate performance standards and measures for the V&V group.
- Supervise and mentor subordinate staff, including the conduct of performance reviews and providing regular performance feedback.
- Set V&V group staff development plans that meet individual and company needs.
**QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES
- 5+ years in a suitable system testing role.
- 3+ years leading specific V&V activities and end-to-end programs.
- Experience driving process improvement programs.
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or other suitable qualification in Information Technology.
- Sound understanding of the Systems Engineering process as applied to software design, development, testing and qualification.
- Sound understanding of engineering standards such as ISO-12207 (SW Life Cycle), ISO-1012 (SW V&V), EIA-632 (Sys Eng) and EIA-649 (Config Mgmt).
- Practical experience in the generation of V&V Plans and Procedures.
- Experience in C/C++ software development (desirable).
- Sound working knowledge of both Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems.
- Experience with a software version control systems (such as Git).
- Experience with an issue and task management systems (such as Jira).
- Experience with a requirement management system (such as DOORS).
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and collaboration tools (such as Confluence).
- Ability to lead a team within a small, fast-paced development environment.
- Background in sonar, radar or similar industry (desirable).
- Excellent analytical/problem solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with good interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with the requirements of Defence projects and eligibility for a Defence Security Clearance to NV1 (SECRET).
- Current Driver's licence and the ability and willingness to work flexible hours.
- A clear understanding of Cloud offerings (AWS preferred). -Experience with implementing enterprise-scale Java Spring-Boot microservices. -A firm grasp of Microservices/Cloud Architecture patterns and significant experience in implementing them is required. -A minimum of 12 years of overall experience in the software industry is required, with at least 2 years spent working as an architect. -You possess a strong understanding and passion for architecture, as well as an interest in new trends and emerging technologies. -Having experience in architecting Secure, Performant and Scalable solutions is what will set you apart from others for this role. -A good working experience in highly transactional distributed systems that can scale on demand. -Extensive experience with containerisation and deployment management. -Experience using observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, etc.
