**Position Summary**
- Gain experience across an array of Social work areas at Victoria's largest regional Health Service
- Gain ongoing training and professional development in a supported work environment
- Work in the interface between the health system & the person with the aim of supporting the person to better manage the impact of their health needs

**About the Facility**

Social Workers at Barwon Health work across a diverse range of the Health areas including Acute, sub-acute and community based program areas at a number of campuses of Barwon Health. Some parts of our service work across a 7-day a week roster, while others Monday to Friday. All roles can work across both the University Hospital of Geelong (UHG) Campus & the McKellar Inpatient Rehabilitation (IRC) campus. The work is team based and is dynamic and rewarding.

**About the role**

Our Social work roles are part of a Social Work team and department, whom work closely together and provide daily peer support. An understating of the health environment is important. The daily clinical work is also team based within a multi-disciplinary setting (i.e. with nurses, Drs and other Allied health).

Barwon Health Social Workers:

- Provide psychosocial assessment involving the patient, family and engaged agencies.
- Work alongside treating team, providing consultation.
- Provide clinical intervention ensuring that the needs of the client and family are attended to.
- Participate in wider service meetings, education opportunities and working groups.
- Manage complex risk situations.
- Be part of a dynamic and supportive social work and multidisciplinary team.

**About the casual unit**:
This enables our services to access Social Workers across the clinical units of Barwon health to cover planned and emergent staff shortfalls within our service

Casual staff members have the opportunity to work across an array of sites and a variety of speciality bed based and or community based services (e.g. acute medical, surgical, mental health and alcohol drug services, rehabilitation, community health, emergency, woman and children's health to name a few.

**About you**:

- you will have a social work degree, recognised by the AASW
- ideally have some health or related welfare experience
- be able to deliver consumer centred care based on best practice and i8n line with Barwon health values and standards
