**The role**
The Head of Recoveries will be responsible for leading the Recoveries claims management teams while implementing strategies to streamline the claims recovery process and improve efficiency. Key to contributing to the overall success of the Third-Party Recoveries & Settlements business is to establish recovery strategies and implement them to support business claim cost outcomes.
The role works collaboratively with the Third-Party Settlement and Recoveries Leadership Team and General Manager to lead a team of managers, team leaders and claims consultants to deliver honest, efficient, and effective claims management services that deliver cost effective claim outcomes for the business. A key requirement will be the identification of opportunities for process improvement and automation, all while ensuring the department is adhering to all regulatory and compliance obligations.
**Key Accountabilities**
This role is responsible for the operational performance of the Recoveries business, measured through key metrics. It oversees a substantial cost pool and manages a well-resourced function. The role involves managing proactively third party recovery claims, minimising claims leakage, and managing complaints. Key duties include developing recovery strategies to mitigate financial risks. Additionally, the role focuses on streamlining the recovery process for efficiency, collaborating with the Optimisation team on automation, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

- Managing the recovery budget
Risk Management:
- Identifying and mitigating recovery risks
- Ensuring regulatory compliance
- Managing disputes
Performance & Reporting:
- Monitoring and reporting on recoveries performance
- Identifying and implementing opportunities for improvementPresenting regular reports to senior management
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- Ideally, 10 years of experience in a leadership role in the insurance industry or similar.
- Strong working knowledge of motor insurance claims management relative to applicable legislation, processes, and industry best practices
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Exceptional communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to effectively engage, influence and develop others
- High level conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills and the ability to develop innovative solutions.
- Understand the linkage between data and emerging technology solutions to optimise business performance and outcomes.
