A private commission is seeking an illustrator with expertise in anthropological subject matter and historical accuracy to create a highly detailed depiction of a group of hominids from 50,000 BCE. The illustration will be produced for a large-scale interpretation board and must balance scientific rigor with artistic expression, providing both educational value and visual impact. This is a complex, high-value freelance project with significant creative and research depth. The scope and timeline will be defined collaboratively with the selected illustrator, based on their methodology and costing. Reference images are available to guide style and expectations. The role is remote and suited for experienced professionals with a strong background in anthropology-related illustration.
Responsibilities
Create a detailed anthropological illustration of hominids circa 50,000 BCE for a large-format interpretation board.
Conduct or apply research to ensure anatomical, cultural, and environmental accuracy.
Translate anthropological data into an engaging and visually compelling hand-drawn style.
Use Photoshop and digital tools to refine and finalize the artwork for large-scale reproduction.
Collaborate with the client to refine scope, style, and deliverables in line with project objectives.
Provide high-resolution files suitable for print and public display.
Skills and Requirements
Proven experience in anthropological, archaeological, or historical illustration.
Strong portfolio demonstrating detailed hand-drawn work and scientific accuracy.
Proficiency with Photoshop and digital editing for illustration finalization.
