This hands-on role is based outdoors and requires precision, teamwork, and a strong focus on maintaining crop quality.
Working within a supportive field team, you'll play a key part in ensuring the success of the upcoming seed carrot harvest.Key ResponsibilitiesThe role is all about protecting crop quality by identifying and removing plants that don't meet the required standards.
Your day-to-day duties will include:Identifying and removing all off-type plants (rogues) that differ from the main seed carrot lineUsing Dutch hoes to carefully chip out off-types, preventing regrowthCollaborating with your team to build confidence in identifying off-types, especially at the start of each dayStaying focused on rogue removal, including plants in the "no-man's land" between male and female bedsUnderstanding field layouts, recognising differences between male and female seed carrot plantsRecording rogue removals through counts, photos, and notes on field areasAssisting with additional fieldwork such as weed removal and rock picking when requiredBenefits$30.35 per hour with penalty rates3-month durationApproximately 35 hours per weekWork outdoors in fresh air with a close-knit teamBuild practical skills in specialised crop managementYour Skills & ExperienceTo succeed in this role, you'll bring:Strong ability to distinguish between true-type and off-type carrot plantsExcellent attention to detail and visual awarenessPrevious fieldwork or agricultural experience (highly regarded)Physical stamina and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditionsChoose Agri Labour AustraliaAgri Labour Australia is an award-winning Australian company with clients in every State and Territory.
