**About Our Company**

Baker & Provan is a large engineering company located in Sydney, Australia with 60 employees, operating since 1946, providing fabrication, machining, mechanical and hydraulic fitting services. We are looking for experienced mechanical and hydraulic fitters to join our team performing fitting work in our large engineering workshop and assisting with mechanical and hydraulic servicing on board our customer's ships.

**About the Opportunity**

We are currently recruiting trade-qualified experienced mechanical and hydraulic fitters to bolster our growing team.

Your duties in this role will include:

- Disassembly, measurement, and inspection of components
- Request required spare parts
- Operate workshop equipment including overhead cranes, Hydraulic Torque Tooling, and various mechanical and hydraulic equipment.
- Rebuild, repair, and overhaul mechanical and hydraulic components from small to large scale ship equipment
- Participate in safety, ship board and OEM training
- Maintain a very high standard of housekeeping at all times
- Ability to read engineering drawings and plan your job using drawings and job card.
- Ensure you fully understand instructions and requirements of a job, including reading instrumentation diagrams, machining standards, interference and clearance tolerances, etc, before starting a job.
- Organise your work area and any job materials in order to facilitate safe and efficient work.
- Fit enough to walk up and down ladders on ships, and ability to confidently work in ship areas that might be tight for space.
- Use your trade and other relevant training to maximize the accuracy, quality, conformity and efficiency of each job.
- Contribute towards company's objectives including zero safety incidents, zero warranty claims and zero re-work.
- Plan jobs to ensure that you have the relevant materials and tools available for the current and next job to minimise spindle down time.
- Be open and willing to learn and use new skills.
- Maintain a positive attitude and strive to achieve mutual respect within your team.

**About You**

To be considered for this role, you will possess;
- Relevant Trade Qualifications essential.
- At least 5 years work experience with proven track in ship repair and maintenance or oil and gas is preferred.
- Ability to read and understand operating manuals, engineering drawings, instrument and hydraulic diagrams, and specifications.
- Ability to select appropriate plan the job, select required tools and materials, make clear notes for the writing of completion reports by others.
- Ability to work in a professional manner with ship staff or when working with workshop personnel.
- Ability to measure jobs and complete dimensional inspection reports.
- Have a high focus on safety.
- Have a positive attitude, willing to learn and can do attitude.
- Ability to pass pre-employment medical and police checks.
