About You
99 Steps is a specialised Domestic and Family Violence program that offers culturally sensitive services to women from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds residing in the Logan and Beenleigh area who have experienced or are experiencing domestic and family violence. This program takes an intersectional approach, which includes individual advocacy, case management, safety planning, risk assessments, information and referrals, crisis support and counselling to address the unique needs and challenges faced by women accessing the service.
The Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) Practitioner will provide counselling, case management support, information, advocacy and referral services to women and children from culturally and linguistically diverse communities in Logan/Beenleigh who are impacted by domestic and family violence. This will include intake and assessment, safety planning, trauma-informed and strengths-based counselling, case management, the provision of information and referral to other services and court assistance for domestic and family violence matters. Services provided may include the provision of information and referral for perpetrators of domestic violence.
The 99 Steps team works closely and collaboratively with staff and programs across the organisation as well as with service providers within the broader community and is a member of the Logan/Beenleigh Integrated Services Response and all staff participate in relevant information sharing and utilise established referral pathways.
The DFV Practitioner will work within the Practice Principles, Standards and Guidance for Domestic and Family Violence Services.

Key Responsibilities
- To provide a holistic domestic and family violence response to clients who have experienced or are experiencing gender-based violence using trauma-informed, case management approach;
- To provide phone and face to face comprehensive and ongoing risk assessments, safety planning, crisis support, advocacy, information, referrals to additional services and supporting clients to navigate the service systems;
- To provide client centred approaches to victim-survivors with a strong understanding of complexities relating to domestic, family or sexual violence;
- To complete case notes within set timeframes and maintain accurate data records;
- To ensure work practices are ethical and comply with the practice principles, standards and guidance for Domestic and Family Violence services;
- To practice from a solutions-focussed perspective when faced with complex situations evolving from service barriers and other system gaps;
- To prepare and collate program reports as directed by Service Delivery Manager
- Perform special duties as directed by the Service Delivery Manager including but not limited to facilitating domestic violence information sessions, represent agency on public committees;
- Actively prepare for, and participate in regular performance appraisals with 99 Steps team leadership group;
- Undertake internal and external professional supervision to reflect and improve on work practices;
- Attend and participate in regular team meetings, provide input on service delivery model;
Essential Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work or human services field
- Minimum two years' experience in working with women and their families impacted by domestic and family violence;
- Demonstrated experience in working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication framework and practices, that are congruent with a strengths-based approach and demonstrated professional integrity, with respect to such matters as confidentiality and client interests.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in negotiation, interpretation, advocacy and conflict resolution alongside emotionally regulated responses.
