You are applying for the position ofAnimal TechnicianforHudson Institute of Medical Research.Please fill in your details below to submit an application for this position.The primary site for this position is: MelbourneSELECTION CRITERIAThe role will suit someone who:Isexperienced in animal husbandry or animal care, ideally within a laboratory orresearch setting.Hassound knowledge of ethical standards relating to animal use in research.Hasstrong attention to detail with excellent record-keeping skills.Hasthe ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.Completion or near completion ofDiploma of Animal TechnologyPriorknowledge of basic techniques for rodentsUndertake training towards competency inall basic rodent techniques and technical servicesYour responsibilities include:Maintainingthe health and welfare of laboratory animals in line with SOPs, includinggeneral husbandry (feeding, water, cleaning), environmental enrichment, andhealth monitoring.Ensuringadequate supply and availability of consumables for animal care.Providinganimal production services such as selecting pedigree lines, mating pairdetermination, weaning, sexing neonates, and monitoring animals for signs ofillness.Maintainingaccurate records relating to breeder data, births/deaths, animal environments,and research requirements.Deliveringexcellent customer service to researchers.Performingtechnical services including tissue collection, identification, bloodcollection, euthanasia, handling/restraint, and injections.Adheringto SOPs to maintain hygiene and health standards of both animals and workareas.Upholdingthe highest ethical standards and comply with all relevant legislationregarding laboratory animal practices, reporting issues promptly tosupervisors.EMPLOYMENT TERMSThis position is a fixed term contract role in a Part time (0.6 - 0.8FTE) capacity.Salary is based on Scientific Support Group ranging from Tap 3-4 dependent onlevel of experience.
