Job Description
The Head of Health and Physical Education is a senior leadership position responsible for driving the academic program in Physical Education and Personal Development from Year 7 to Year 12. The role requires a visionary leader who can shape and communicate a clear vision that builds confidence, curiosity, and teamwork capabilities.
The successful candidate will lead innovation and continuous improvement in Health and PE programs, ensuring they remain contemporary, challenging, and engaging for students of all abilities. They will guide and support staff through collaboration, professional growth, and the development of effective learning pathways.
Responsibilities:
Shaping a Clear Vision:
Develop and communicate a compelling vision for the Health and PE Faculty that fosters a culture of teamwork, open communication, and shared achievement.
Innovation and Improvement:
Lead the design and implementation of innovative Health and PE programs that meet the needs of diverse learners.
Staff Support and Development:
Provide guidance and support to staff to enhance their teaching practices and promote student learning outcomes.
Culture Building:
Foster a positive and inclusive school culture that values diversity, equity, and social justice.
Required Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents. A strong understanding of health and physical education pedagogy and curriculum is essential, as well as experience in leading teams and managing change.
VIT Registration:
VIT registration or the ability to gain VIT registration is required for this position.
