Horticulturist Wanted - Mi-Rin Farm in Yea (Casual Position)

We are looking for a qualified horticulturist to join Mi-Rin Farm and help take our vegetable patch and orchard to the next level. We've built our veggie patch from scratch and now need an expert with the knowledge and experience to improve yield, fruit quality, and overall productivity while maintaining organic farming practices.

About the Role:

- Enhance vegetable and fruit production using organic and sustainable methods.
- Plan and plant seasonal produce at the right time for optimal growth.
- Harvest and store seeds to ensure sustainability for future seasons.
- Work closely with the kitchen team to grow what the chef needs and ensure a steady supply of fresh produce.
- Guide us in tree planting, orchard management, and regenerative farming techniques.
- Be hands-on with daily farm tasks, including weeding, soil preparation, and general maintenance.
- Enjoy working outdoors in all seasons and don't mind getting your hands dirty to get the job done.

Job Details:

- Casual position.
- Pay: $31 per hour + super (Level 3 MA000028 Horticultural Award).
- Hours: 4 hours per day, 2-3 times a week (flexible schedule).

**Requirements**:

- Cert III in Horticulture (or higher).
- Experience in fruit and vegetable cultivation using organic principles.
- Understanding of seasonal planting cycles and seed-saving techniques.
- Passion for sustainable and chemical-free farming.
- Comfortable working outdoors and taking on hands-on tasks like weeding and soil preparation.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with the kitchen team to meet their needs.
- Please note: Working holiday visa holders will not qualify for the 88 days requirement due to limited hours each week, so please don't apply.
- Applicants must be local to the Yea/Murrindindi area. Travel time and costs make it impractical for those not in the vicinity
