**About the Role**

HomeCare Australia is seeking a **caring and patient Disability Support Worker** to provide **community access support** for a male client living in **Supported Independent Living (SIL)**. This role involves **building trust, engaging in social activities, and ensuring a safe and structured environment** during outings.

**About the Client**

Our client, **Pete**, has **Schizophrenia, Intellectual Disability, and Hypercholesterolemia**. He is **child-like at times but understands everything** you say. Initially, your role will focus on **building trust through simple activities** like watching movies and going for short walks. Over time, support will extend to **driving him to parks and other quiet spaces**.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Build Trust & Connection** - Engage in **low-pressure activities** like watching movies and taking local walks.
**Community Access Support** - Assist with **safe outings** to parks and other quiet areas over time.
**Ensure Safety** - Johny **must never be left unattended**, and you must be mindful that he **may run if frightened**.
**Encourage Hydration & Toileting** - Prompt Pete to **drink water** and remind him to **use the toilet while out**.
**Provide Comfort & Reassurance** - Allow Pete to **hold onto your arm** when using lifts, stairs, or escalators, as these can frighten him.
**Avoid Crowded Areas** - Pete prefers **calm environments** and does not do well in crowds.

**What We're Looking For**:
? **Experience in disability or mental health support** (preferred).
? **Patient, understanding, and able to build trust** with clients over time.
? Strong ability to **follow care plans and ensure client safety** at all times.
? Reliable and committed to a **consistent weekly schedule** (Wed-Fri, 9 AM - 12 PM).
? Awareness of **risk management and personal safety** when supporting vulnerable individuals.

**Requirements**:
**NDIS Worker Screening Check**
**First Aid & CPR Certificate**
**Driver's License & Reliable Transport**
**Working with Children Check (Blue Card)** (preferred but not essential)
**COVID-19 Vaccination (as per government requirements)**
