**Role**:

- Leading teachers will be highly skilled classroom practitioners and undertake leadership and management roles commensurate with their salary range. The role of leading teachers is to improve the skill, knowledge and performance of the teaching workforce in a school or group of schools and to improve the curriculum program of a school.
- Typically, leading teachers are responsible for coordinating a number of staff to achieve improvements in teaching and learning which may involve the coordination and professional support of colleagues through modelling, collaborating and coaching and using processes that develop knowledge, practice and professional engagement in others.
- Leading teachers are expected to lead and manage a significant area or function within the school with a high degree of independence to ensure the effective development, provision and evaluation of the school's education program.
- Leading teachers will be expected to make a significant contribution to policy development relating to teaching and learning in the school. A leading teacher has a direct impact and influence on the achievement of the school goals.
- Leading teachers are usually responsible for the implementation of one or more priorities contained in the school strategic plan.

**Responsibilities**:
**Whole School Wellbeing Programs & Strategic Initiative**s**
- Lead and coordinate whole school wellbeing programs to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Oversee and actively participate in Homework Club/Wellbeing and Kindness Club Sessions (HWKCS) meetings.
- Lead and support the administration of the Attitudes to School Survey (ATOSS), including establishing processes for survey delivery, facilitating focus groups and supports, and communicating and analyzing ATOSS data.
- Develop and manage strategies to improve student achievement and engagement in areas targeted by the College Strategic Plan.

**Direct Student Support**
- Provide direct support to students experiencing difficulties at school (including financial), at home, or in the broader community.
- Provide learning support guidance to students, teachers, and families for students at risk or Students With Additional Needs (SWANs), in collaboration with Inclusion Team Leaders.
- Support the coordination of the Program for Students with Disabilities, ensuring that students have wellbeing representation at Student Support Group (SSG) meetings, suspensions, and when requested by families or other leaders.
- Ensure smooth transition of new students into the college; arrange wellbeing enrolment meetings to occur no later than their first day, following GEC enrolment policy.
- Maintain accurate records on Compass, including documenting Level 3 wellbeing meetings, and ensure compliance and record-keeping.

**Collaboration and Liaison**
- Lead, support, and coordinate the Wellbeing Team.
- Coordinate the provision of Mental Health Services across the college.
- Liaise with Department of Education Student Services and external agencies to develop and provide a comprehensive range of support services for students.
- Liaise with local and broader communities, youth, and welfare agencies to further extend support networks for students.
