**Key Responsibilities**:
- Providing direct support to individuals and families with deafness, and high complex care needs, including children.
- Implementing tailored support plans designed to meet the unique needs and goals of each participant, with consideration for their communication preferences (e.g., Auslan or other communication aids).
- Supporting individuals with non-verbal communication through alternative communication methods, including Auslan for clients who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Managing challenging behaviours, including aggression, in a safe and effective manner.
- Assisting clients with daily living activities, personal care, and community participation.
- Building positive relationships with clients, their families, and other support networks, including those who use Auslan or require other communication assistance.
- Documenting client progress, interventions, and incidents in accordance with NDIS guidelines.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external service providers to ensure holistic care and support, including specialists in deafness and communication support.
**Requirements**:
- Minimum of two years of experience working as an NDIS Support Worker, with a focus on deafness, high complex care needs, and early childhood intervention.
- Demonstrated understanding and experience in supporting individuals with autism, deafness, adolescence, and non-verbal communication, including Auslan proficiency.
- Proficiency in Auslan or a strong willingness to undertake training in Auslan to support clients who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Proven ability to manage challenging behaviors, including aggression, in a calm and professional manner.
- Familiarity with NDIS documentation requirements, including note writing and reporting.
- Certificate III or IV in Disability, Individual Support, or a related field.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients, including those who communicate using Auslan or other non-verbal methods.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations.
- A compassionate and person-centered approach to care and support.
