About us
The County Court of Victoria is established pursuant to the County Court Act 1958. It has original and appellate jurisdiction and is the principal trial court in the State of Victoria. The Court hears over 11,000 criminal, common law and commercial cases each year. The County Court has unlimited monetary jurisdiction in common law and commercial matters. In its criminal jurisdiction, the Court hears all indictable offences except treason, murder and related offences.
There are a total of 70 Judges of the Court and over 200 staff, including judicial support staff. The County Court regularly conducts circuit sittings at 12 circuit courts situated in major centres throughout regional Victoria.

About the role
The County Court Criminal Division hears indictable offences under Victorian and Commonwealth law, as well as appeals from the Magistrates' Court and Children's Court both in Melbourne and across regional Victoria.
The Division is governed by the Criminal Division Group comprising the Head of the Criminal Division, the Listings Judge, the Judge in charge of Non-Trial work and the Circuit Judge.
The Criminal Division Administration Team is comprised of four functional areas, Criminal Registry Services, Case Management, Court Resources and Allocations and Practice and Procedure. Led by the Director, together they are responsible for all administrative activities that sustain the operations of the Division, delivering critical services to Court users and the judiciary.
The Court Resource and Allocations Group is responsible for managing the Court resources required for state-wide criminal hearings including courtrooms, remote witness facilities, security, and technology links. This Group is also responsible for the allocation of cases to judges and in doing so liaises with parties and other key stakeholders.
The Non-Trial Case Allocation Coordinator is concerned in particular with the allocation of all non-trial cases including pleas, appeals and case management hearings.

Demonstrated experience working in a legal environment or the Victorian Court System would be highly regarded.
