Allied Health Assistant - The Mornington Centre

What You Will Be Doing
The Allied Health Assistant (Grade 2) works within the inpatient subacute occupational therapy service and assists Allied Health Professionals in delivering best practice, patient-centred clinical care.
The AHA also supports smooth Allied Health operations through non-clinical duties and performs work within the AHA scope of practice under delegation and supervision of Allied Health Professionals (AHP).
Minimum qualification: Allied Health Assistance Certificate III (or equivalent), Grade 2.
Experience in an acute or sub-acute inpatient setting (student experience included).
Understanding of the goals and priorities of occupational therapy within a hospital setting.
Ability to provide individual therapy and education to patients as prescribed by the occupational therapist.
Understanding of normal development and medical conditions relevant to the role.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team with minimal supervision.
Willingness to learn and develop new skills through direction and feedback.
Proficiency with a range of software applications (word processing, equipment database, ordering and invoicing).
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.
Demonstrated problem solving and organisational skills.
Qualifications & Skills
Allied Health Assistance Certificate III or equivalent (Grade 2).
Experience in acute/sub-acute inpatient settings (including student placements).
Understanding of occupational therapy goals in a hospital setting.
Ability to work with patients under supervision of AHPs and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving abilities.
