Initial 12 month + 1 x 12 Months extension Hybrid working arrangements across ACT, NSW, VIC A leading Federal Government agency is seeking skilled Data Scientists (multiple levels) to join a nationally significant program shaping data-driven policy and service delivery outcomes.
These roles offer long-term opportunities within a high-impact environment where your work will directly influence national decision-making.
The successful Data Scientists (multiple levels)will be offered a 12-month contract with 1 x 12-month extension option and hybrid working arrangements
The successful Data Scientists (multiple levels)will be responsible for, but not limited to: Lead or contribute to data analysis, policy briefs, and stakeholder engagement.
Apply advanced R, Python, SQL/SAS and modelling techniques to solve policy and operational challenges.
Design and implement statistical, mathematical, and machine learning models to support forecasting, scenario testing, and product development.
Manage or support the preparation of dashboards, visualisations, reports, and insights for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and present findings tailored to executive, technical, and policy audiences.

Provide leadership, coaching, and oversight of project teams and deliverables.
The successful Data Scientists (multiple levels) will have experience in the following: Proven data analytics/data science expertise, ideally within government or large-scale policy environments.
Proficiency in R & Python programming, with strong SQL/SAS skills.
Experience with version control systems (Git).
Strong understanding of statistical modelling techniques (GLMs, gradient boosting, forecasting, ML).
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Demonstrated experience in leadership, planning, and team management.
