
Principal Practitioner Specialised Clinical

The purpose of the role is to enhance community safety through the delivery of a number of specialist services supporting QCS management of high harm/complex needs offenders. The Principal Practitioner will conduct and lead a wide range of forensic assessments, reports and interventions, case formulation, evidence based intervention, advice on operational case management and the provision of specialist advice for offenders deemed as high harm/complex needs.
The Principal Practitioner will support, mentor and supervise senior practitioners in their professional and operational development within SCS and QCS as a whole. The role engages with a range of key stakeholders, including the Parole Board Queensland, QCS Executive Management, Correctional Centres, Probation and Parole District Offices, Queensland Health and external allied health professionals. The role also includes the provision of peer coaching, mentoring, and professional development and training throughout the Agency.
**In this role you will**:
- Perform the administration, scoring and interpretation of validated assessment tools to inform structured professional judgement to deliver on SCS key services and outcomes, within the applicant's specific field of expertise and training
- Provide quality, accurate and timely information to relevant stakeholders in relation to offender's risk and harm, including initial, intermediate and long-term risk mitigation strategies encompassing; case management, referrals and other intervention recommendations/actions
- Engage in evidence based best practice case formulation, assessment, reporting and interventions for offenders identified as high harm/complex needs
- Manage an ongoing and long-term case load of offenders
- Make informed referrals to appropriate allied health professionals and/or service providers
- Provide assistance, mentoring, training and feedback in the development of SCS and QCS staff in the assessment and management of high harm/complex needs offenders
- Manage the security and confidentiality of records and information in accordance with Information Privacy Standards
- Initiate, develop and maintain productive relationships with key stakeholders who may present with differing priorities
- Lead and actively contribute to SCS knowledge base of evidence based best practice for offender intervention, programs, research, practices, legislation, policy and procedures
- Identify factors, trends and issues of a systemic nature and provide advice to management on changes to the design of SCS service delivery which ensures continued alignment with evidence based best practice and agency priorities
- Promotes and supports the practices of SCS to internal and external stakeholders
