We provide advice to the Australian Government around climate, energy, and the environment, and administer legislation. The department also enforces laws relating to the protection of the environment and biodiversity, wildlife, fuel quality and greenhouse gas storage.

We deliver policies and programs to:

- advance Australia's interests in the Antarctic and Southern Ocean.

**About the team**:
The Office of the Australian Energy Infrastructure Commissioner is seeking a motivated and experienced Executive Officer to lead our small, dynamic team based in Melbourne.

The Commissioner also promotes the adoption of best practices for industry and government regarding the planning and operation of these projects, as well as provide greater transparency on information related to proposed and operating projects.

As the Executive Officer, you will work directly with the Commissioner and manage a small team that is dedicated to supporting the Office's role and activities. You will also have the opportunity to regularly liaise with a large stakeholder network, shape new work programs, undertake project site visits and visit regional communities across Australia.

Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or commensurate qualifications and experience is also highly desirable.

**What you will do**:
This role provides a unique opportunity to work directly with communities, industry and government agencies during an important time in Australia's energy transition. In leading a small and energetic team, you will be responsible for ensuring improved outcomes for regional communities and the energy industry.

In this role you will:

- Independently manage a small team dedicated to supporting the Commissioner in delivering the Commissioner's Terms of Reference, including handling of complaints and advocating for best practices in relation to onshore and offshore wind farms, solar farms, energy storage facilities and new major transmission projects.
- Supervise the preparation of formal reports, work plans and other briefing material, including regular reports to the Department, quarterly reports to the Minister and Annual Reports to the Parliament of Australia.
