**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**:
Cumberland City Council is proud to offer a Cadetship with our Building Surveying team which offers a combination of on-the-job work experience whilst you complete your university degree in this field.
The Cadet - Building Surveyor will contribute to the provision of high level construction and development services provided by Council to the wider community.
The successful applicant will require:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate university degree related to building surveying, civil or structural engineering or equivalent, with no more than 24 months remaining until completion
- Demonstrated ability to deal in a positive and courteous manner with the public and other workers
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Possess administrative and organisational skills, including attention to detail, ability to maintain accurate records and skills in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work as part of a team with good interpersonal skills
- Class C drivers licence (including Provisional 1 or 2).

**About this role**:
- 1 x term contract, full-time or part-time position for a period of up to 24 months
- 35 hour week, working from 8:30am to 4:30pm
- Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement
- Located at Council's Auburn Administration Office, and may be required to work across any of Council's work locations
**Salary information**: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- This position is placed in Cumberland's Trainee Salary Structure with a salary of $1,108.49 per week, plus 11.5% superannuation
**Eligibility criteria**:
- Applicants must be able to work **and** study in Australia to be eligible for an apprenticeship or traineeship. Please note that Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) Visa Subclass 482 does not allow the holder to study in Australia.

- Applicants can be new to an apprenticeship, or have completed 50% or less of the nominal duration of their apprenticeship and are not currently employed by another organisation as an apprentice.
- Applicants must not have completed the same or a higher qualification in the same field.
