**How will I help?**

As a Director for Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Risk within Westpac Institutional Banking (WIB), your role will be to support customer-facing teams in assessing and managing ESG risks relating to customers and transactions. You will provide the policies, processes and tools necessary to embed ESG across WIB to enable more strategic and informed conversations with customers, as well as the ability to identify and manage ESG risks in our portfolio.

Key outcomes and accountabilities;
Transaction review & advisory
- Supporting customer-facing teams in the ESG assessment of customers and transactions.
- Manage ESG escalation processes to ensure decisions made which are consistent with WIB and Group policies, frameworks and appetite.
- Provide ESG advisory and insights in response to queries raised by customer-facing teams, in particular relating to emerging risks, sensitive issues, and high-risk sectors, countries, products & services and projects.
- Ensure high quality data capture, reporting and records management relating to ESG reviews which meets WIB, Group and regulatory, reporting and disclosure requirements.

ESG risk uplift
- Lead the development of tools and guidance for customer-facing teams to better understand and manage material ESG risks across industry portfolios, including climate change and human rights.
- Work with business controls, credit process and technology teams to ensure ESG risk assessment and decisioning integrated into core credit and customer onboarding processes and systems.

Policy development
- Develop policies, frameworks and standards which deliver on policy requirements, appetite and public commitments - in particular those relating to Net Zero, Natural Capital and human rights.
- Provide WIB input into Group ESG-related policies, frameworks and standards, ensuring full engagement of key WIB stakeholders.

You will have exceptional change management and stakeholder management skills with a track record of driving successful outcomes on complex agendas and a strong capacity to influence peers and senior managers. Your outstanding capacity to deliver high quality results to deadline, with good attention to detail and excellent interpersonal, influencing, negotiation, written and verbal communication skills, will see you succeed in this role.
