About the Role
The Deputy Principal - Maximising Learning will establish and lead a team who will provide support at a student level, staff level, whole school level and across school collaboration. The team will support schools to maximise engagement of students as they transition into and participate in the junior secondary years, to ensure they are on track for success. Strong engagement in learning in junior secondary is crucial for retaining students into their senior secondary years and ensuring graduates are ready for the future. The successful applicant will have demonstrated an ability to work collaboratively across teams and disciplines to lead teams and influence practice to maximise engagement for students.

**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:

- Lead and manage a regional team to develop and implement strategies and initiatives to maximise learning for students.
- Collaborate with school supervisors and other regional leaders to develop system responses and whole school capability to maximise students' attendance and participation
- Analyse data to identify emerging trends for regional response, and implement systems for early identification of vulnerable learners in order to coordinate regional supports and services for maximising learning days
- Exhibit and foster commitment to developing performance, capability and capacity in the department of best practice evidence-based approaches to teaching, learning and school improvement.
- Work in partnership with the EFI and Student Services teams to develop capability of schools in the area of student behaviour and multi-tiered systems of support, including through collaborative learning communities.

Understanding of multi-tiered systems of support and expertise in junior secondary would be considered favourably.

**Mandatory Requirements**:

- You must be a permanent employee of the department with a substantive teaching or classified officer role employed under Teaching in State Education Award - State 2016, have current full registration as a teacher and should be aware that temporary internal moves for the purposes of the department's payroll processes are referred to as internal secondments.
- Employees' engaged temporarily as Education Officer - Special Duties have a requirement of 361/4 hours per week attendance and arrangements as outlined in clause 7.4 of the Department of Education State School Teachers Certified Agreement 2019.
- When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
